I never bothered throwing a tarp over mine, occasionally putting the top up if I had some time or if I knew it wouldn’t dry out due to cooler weather , although we re it new instead of 15 years old I’d more aggressively protect it.

I mean makes sense to me. A tarp is way less bulky than a soft top, let alone a hard top. So if you are going out for a nice day on the lake with your water melon inflatable, just bring the tarp and some bungees and if you get a surprise storm, put it up there. When you get home don’t bother putting the real top back on because it would require you to uncover it in the rain.

she had to borrow the tarp. It didn’ t do any good. She still had 3" of water sitting in the footwell once the rain stopped.

Yeah, tucking the tarp into the doo rs kind of defeats the purpose of having a tarp.
